Tonight's run was better. I took in a bit of carbs at lunch and a little more at dinner. Then proceeded to run two splits of 10:31 and 10:38. Made it past 1.8 and never felt like I would just sit in the gutter and wait for a ride. I did take a short walk break at 2.45 miles, but then took it home at a 11:17 pace. Now lets hope I'm not putting on pounds. Tomorrow I will eat a normal amount of carbs and then I'll run the half marathon Saturday morning.
It's the YMCA Half that I ran last year. It starts at the highest elevation on the course and then goes south to the canal. Maybe a mile and a half of downhill running. It's an out and back, so what you get in the beginning you have to give back at the end. I ran it last year in 2:49:30 and the hill at the end did me in. I think I can beat that this year if I GU at miles 3, 6, 9 and maybe 12. I'll be using nuun in my water too. My best half was last year's Fiesta Bowl and I did that in 2:27:41

Hey Pat, One thing that I learned last summer when I was dieting was about how to fuel for a workout without adding weight. A really good choice is a PB and J or a cliff bar. I forgot that I was doing that last summer when I was dieting more strict. It really seemed to work and I felt better then ever. Hmm...maybe I should get back to that. ;.)
Good luck on Saturday!! I hope you have a great time!
How about you take off the 13.1 and leave it 26.2 X 4 instead? (technically that is right :P)
Good luck on your half!
Marcy's advice not withstanding, I would stick with what you have.
Good luck at the half this weekend.
Personally, I think 26.2 says it all. In fact, 13.1 is obsolete, no?
I love Marcy's idea. But I'm with Jeff. In fact I think I want to put one on my Civic.
I like the 26.2 sticker... having that on there makes the 13.1 look half as good :)
My first marathon is still quite a ways away in my progress, but I have already been thinking of a custom liscense plate that I could get for it.
Pat, hope you have a great run, can't wait to read about it.
Pat I just signed up for ex-Tempe 10k, now double loop downtown Phoenix. Hope to see you there. Look for Red and white checkered shirt, number 127. And then back to earning my first 26.2 sticker on Jan 18, or is it 19th, who cares, as long as i can do my 20 milers. Ok, Ok, time to write something on my blog.
