A Morning Run

We like to keep our kids busy in the summer, so my son decided to take a class on computer repair at East Valley Institute of Technology. It starts at 7:30 am and he isn't ready to drive by himself, so mom and dad get to taxi him back and forth. This morning was my turn, so I put on my running duds, took Tyler to EVIT and then headed on over to the Mesa Canal Path for a 4 miler.

I hadn't run on this part of the canal, so everything was new to me. I ran from Main street (where the light rail system is being built) south to Banner Desert Samaritan Hospital and back. I saw some horses, chickens and a dead rat. On the way south I ran on the west bank that had no shade. Heading north I looked for every bit of shade there was on the east bank. I did the 4 miles in 57 minutes. Yes, I was spent after 2 miles and the second half was pretty slow. It was 82 degrees out and sunny. I'm used to running in the dark when it's hot, this run was not dark. On the way back,

Since I will be taking Tyler to EVIT every morning, I will probably be running in the mornings more often. Maybe I should run with an umbrella. (Just kiddin')

Why are you are running in West Lafayette - vacation? My great auntie lives right off from Purdue's campus, wave hi for me!

My in laws live in WL, IN. My father in law is a professor there. So, every year while some are in Hawaii or flying across the pond, we are vacationing in Indiana and Ohio. If you like the smell of cows or seeing corn in the field, you can't beat it.

Great job, and it is cool how you have a built in morning run! Now if only I could swing the AM runs... I may have to due to summer temps soon.

Keep up the GREAT work Pat!
