Another 8 miles bites the dust

I got to Tumbleweed park and saw a marathon training group setting up for the morning run. I thought how am I ever going to find Karen and Angie? I'd met Lisa before, but there might be hundreds of runners in this parking lot in no time. Luckily, Pokey and OnePinkFuzzy found me. And Javamom found us all.

What a great running group. We couldn't have been better suited for each other. As you could see on the map above, we headed out east to get to the canal and then north towards our goal - the gas station with restrooms and cold beverages. We actually went one mile further and then got to visit the gas station twice.

Now running with women can be awefully lonely. You don't get to talk much. You get to listen, but you often times don't want to do that either. When they want to cross a street, they use you to stop traffic. Now I didn't mind holding all their sports drinks, but I hated answering to, "Hey waterboy, I'm thirsty."

Pat with Karen, Lisa and Angie

I'm just kidding. I had a blast and we talked about all your blogs. We talked about Gels and Gu's (by the way, you might want to send all your empty Gu packets to Javamom, she's collecting). We talked about running and reaching that runner's high. Althought Angie had a different name for it.
They were so fast, I could barely take the picture.

But, not always. The run was great we covered 8 miles in under 2 hours. It felt like half that time. Hopefully, we will do another long run in a few weeks.
Oh by the way, this was my 75th straight day of exercise.

That seriously made me laugh!!! Too funny Pat!!! What a great day! Love the pics...except for that one where I look like a dork. LOL

Thanks for a great morning!

I went back and looked at the pics. Can't find any dork pictures. I'm thinking about sending out the group photo to all my friends and bragging about the "babes" I get to run with.

Amy - don't read this. too late.

Oh my gosh, you guys, this looks like SO much fun! I am so jealous.

I got to go to lunch yesterday with Amy and Tom from Runner's Lounge, we talked about everyone's blogs too (but we didn't take any pictures.) It was a lot of fun. Running bloggers seem to be such good people!

Glad you had a great time!!

Pat you are an ironman of consistency...

Great run with the girls...I know fully what you mean about not getting a word n edgewise....oh am I going to be in trouble if any of my running mates read this...but I still find it refreshing to run with my "gals", even if they all leave me in their dirt....something I would never do to them...well ok once and I'm still paying for it.....

Looks like a great run Pat. Very cool to get some folks to exercise with.

Marcy - I think they were thinking those poor girls are getting chased by that old man.

Jeff - it was great to have a group that ran similar paces.

Chad - you're welcome anytime. We might drive you crazy though.

hey, pat! thanks so much for your comment on my blog. not doing the rnr full this year - i might do the half, but i haven't fully decided.

i recognize the canal pics! i did all my training for my first marathon on the canal - it brings back good memories. in fact, my girlfriends and i also had our token guy runner-friend. he learned more than he ever wanted to know about bra tops and cramps during those miles and miles we ran together! fact is, we've traded running together for riding together recently because he got way too fast for us! maybe he was trying to run away from our conversations??? :-)
