17 pounds gained in one week

Tonight I taped "Biggest Loser", got my running gear together and headed out the door. With the garmin I can run anywhere I want. No need for a course, garmin will tell me when I am finished. I got 6 miles done in 75 minutes.

Environment Note: We take a half gallon milk jug, clean it out and fill it with water. Then we put one in each of our toilet water reservoirs. Now, each time we flush, we flush a half gallon less water. Edit: I just found the above link that explains it better than I did.

Last year at this time I did 3 runs of 4 miles each. 12 total miles. This saturday I'll do 14 in one day. My longest run ever. I weighed 240 pounds. Now I'm about 17 pounds lighter. I ran the Ghost and Goblins 5k on the 29th. It was my second run ever and I did it in a PR of 34.35. Sunday, I plan to run that race again.

The Biggest Loser: How can you gain 17 pounds in one week? Neil, of the biggest loser explains that each gallon of water weight 8 pounds, so all you have to do is drink two gallons of water right before the weigh in. That's what Neil did to get his new 3 man team below the yellow line and in the elimination. The team formerly know as the Blue Team wanted to get rid of either Jez or Isabeau. In the end, it worked and they eliminated Jez. Bryan of the old blue team also gained a pound. At least this makes the show much more interesting.

And it makes our fantasy league that more interesting too. Lots of changes this week as some teams gained weight. Tiggers hate honey and Pat's Pounders moved up to first and second place. Bob's Waddlers dropped from 1st to 5th and Jeff's Former Fatties dropped from 2nd to 6th place because both teams had Neil as a member.

How Neil didn't get eliminated, I have no ideal. The question is will Neil have a huge week coming up? The 17 pounds of pure water should be easy to get rid of and he's know for putting some big numbers up. If so, Bob and Jeff's teams will be right back up top in one weeks time. If you haven't watched "Biggest Loser" next week might be the week you want to watch.

Funny, after the weigh in the cameras found Neil up in the bathroom. I'm sure he ran there fast.

It was a good episode last night but I now despise Neil. I understand it is a game and his strategy worked as he didn't get voted off but he so should have gotten the boat last night.

I really don't like Neil anymore either. He should have been the one to go. Not Jez. I liked Jez...he was honest and fair. The thought of drinking 2 gallons of water makes me gag. Don't get me wrong...I drink like 200 oz of water a day, but I also pee a million times.

I was totally picturing your milk jug in the bowl and not the reservoir and I was like ewww...I get it now thought. Great tip. :>)

Too bad we can not have Neil removed before the next weigh in. He did my team a favor. If he would have got the boot last night I might have a chance to maintain 1st place. What he did was outright unacceptable. I hope that everyone blackballs him in the next episode.

Neil definitely should have gotten eliminated after that dirty trick. I hope everyone gets on his case next week. It sucks that reality shows always end up being about who can be the most underhanded and stab their competition in the back in order to win. I felt much more inspired when it was just about who could work the hardest and lose the most weight. And how does someone drink 2 gallons of water and hold it in for the weigh in?! I'd be running to the bathroom after a quart or two!

We've been watching nothing but fire updates on every big network, so we've missed a bunch of shows, baseball games, etc... Thanks for the update to one of my favorite shows.

I think the problem with what Neil did is that it is exactly what the show is setup for. We all want the show to be about weight loss, but it's not. Sure the weight loss is what gets us to watch. But if the producers thought they could get a bigger audience by making the show about weight gained, the premise would be changed in a heart beat. The problem is that it's a reality show with a cash prize, and all we the viewer want is someone to lose weight. I'd much rather see them win money at the weigh ins for lost weight and not ever vote anyone off. Or if someone has to go make it the person with the lowest percentage weight loss. At least that way the insufferable Amy would be gone by now.

I was SO mad when I saw this week's episode. Neil was such a LOSER to do that this week. I can never look at him fairly again..period!

Neil even conceded that maybe he drank too much water. Next week will be good! Neil will have a big old target on his head.

This was not the first time this has happened. Think back to last season when Erik and Kai got teamed up. Kai had a free pass, which Erik forced her to use by gaining weight that week.

(Strikes me that I know WAY too much about this!)

I mised a good show it looks like .
How does one drink 2 gallons of water and a) not have their bladder explode or b) begin to show symptoms of water intoxication which can be life threatening???
That's cheating in my book. But Matt did a load week to show a big loss the next week and it worked out well for him in the end. It's all just a game when it boils down to it....

Hey all. Good league. The interesting thing about this week's water gain as opposed to other seasons is that the 'goal' this week was to directly HURT someone else, not just 'selfishly' help yourself. Matt helped himself in my season and Erik sinmply took away Kai's advantage and they both still made it to the Finale. Does that makes sense? If not watch next week.
