Rock 'N' Roll Las Vegas

I just did the RnR AZ survey. I got a $10 discount to any RnR race in the next 12 months and it shows that I can use it on the Rock 'N' Roll Las Vegas Marathon in December. This is news I didn't know. Did you?

Today's a Rest Day. No running.

I did not know that. I would love to run in Vegas.

That sounds like a fun race!

I believe they purchased the rights to the old Las Vegas Marathon.

As with any Elit Racing event, to get the most bang for your buck, make sure you book early before prices go up!

Funny you should post this.... I just got a $10 coupon for a local race I did last year. I can use it on the 5k, so I think I am going to do that!

How cool, is this the first year that it's the RNR? I know the regular Las Vegas marathon is around that same day. Last fall I was thinking about running the Vegas half this past year, and I thought it sounded cool to be able to run on the strip (normally there's so much traffic, you wouldn't be able to breathe from the exhaust). Plus, plenty of weird stuff to see. I think it would be a fun race.

And that's cool that it benefits Crohn's & Colitis foundation- my dad has Crohn's disease, and there are some days when he is just miserable.

Yes I've been hearing about this for awhile. Elite is taking over the original Las Vegas Marathon. I hear they are also going to be taking over the Chicago Marathon in a year or two.

Hi Pat,

The people who bought the Las Vegas Marathon in 2005 had financial problems. Elite stepped in with money, or the 2008 race would not have happened. At that point it was announced in the Las Vegas newspaper, but they didn't make the big announcement until a couple weeks ago. I suspect this is going to be "the race" for 2009. I wonder if it will hurt the San Antonio race? It was huge!

I didn't realize that Elite took over at Vegas. The company that used to run LA ran Vegas as well. They must have sold off all their marathons.

Vegas is fun to do at least once. The town is not for me but I did enjoy the race. It was cold at the start as I recall.
